I broke the news on-air this morning, my last time hosting Early on KEXP will be Ethiopian & Eritrean New Years this year, September 12th. It’ll be a new era, for real.
I’m stepping away from the radio station to make more time for my own music, and I’ll be going back into teaching part-time, too. This is also a decision I knew I would have to make soon for the sake of my health.
Getting to host this radio show every weekday has meant so much, especially during those first two years of the pandemic! Having something to wake up to every morning to do something of service that was helping other people get through hard times, in an era where we became more isolated than we ever were? It was a lifeline for me too. I will forever be thankful to KEXP and to all of our listeners, for the space and for what the show meant during those first two years especially. It really feels like we DJ'ed our way through an apocalypse.
KEXP will have more updates about the future of Early and the Associate Music Director position soon.
Sending so much love and appreciation for every listener, everyone who supported our work on the air, every artist who sat with me for an interview, every community organization that partnered with us on programming, there’s just so many of y’all to thank.

Tomorrow (6/29) will also be my last show on-air before going to Paris for a month! DJ Miss Ashley and Mike Ramos are gonna hold the show down in July, and I’ll be back on the airwaves for about 6 more weeks starting in August.
I’m still here for y’all, but sometimes the way we work has to change. Sometimes prioritizing your own health is actually the best thing you can do for your community.
It’s forever gonna be medicine in the music, all ways.
In other news… my new solo album is 90% done and I’m looking at rolling out the first few singles by the end of summer! Also got a bunch of shows coming up, will be updating the calendar on gabrielteodros.com and on Instagram as those get announced. I’m gonna try to keep y’all more regularly updated on this Substack too. (Thank you so much to everyone who’s been subscribed here for the last few years!)
See y’all real soon.
